Nick Zelle
Coach
Nick is a multi-disciplinary circus artist with a curiosity about the possibilities of this practice between the worlds of dance, performance art, and philosophy. Having attended the professional training program at l’École de cirque de Québec, where he specialized in aerial rope, hand-balancing and floor acrobatics, Nick has created and performed with companies such as the Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour, battleRoyal, the Chamäleon Theater, and a number of local theater collaborations with the Xelias Aerial Arts Performing Company. He has taught aerial circus disciplines in a variety of contexts, including at The Muse in Brooklyn, Zirkus Cabuwazi in Berlin, and the Zip Zap Circus School in Cape Town, where he assisted the instruction of the pre-professional track and the school’s community outreach programs. Nick holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Middlebury College and is a member of Cirkus Syd, a group that explores humanities-based approaches to thinking about circus. He loves giving back to and continuing to learn and grow at Xelias, his circus home!
